I am grateful to my fellow members who welcomed me as a member 4 years ago and have been so generous with their time, energy and support to bring me to this proud moment, that I take on the Presidency of our great Club! I have found myself very much at home among our fifty or so members, who could hardly be more diverse. With 17 nationalities represented, a wide variety of professional backgrounds and interests and an age range spanning at least six decades, it is all the more impressive that we find so much in common between us, thanks to our shared dedication to service, friendship and networking. My first career, in professional services, prepared me for Rotary being part of the portfolio I have built for the second phase of my career. My purpose has become to Give Back, to myself, my family and the community.
I take a values-based approach as an Executive and Systemic Team Coach and I have observed the following values in our Club, which will guide me over the coming year:
Respect - for each other as Rotarians, for our Partners and beneficiaries, for our family and friends as they support our commitment to Rotary and for all with whom we come into contact in the course of our Rotary and other activities
Care - for the Rotary brand, its traditions and its evolution, for the people we lead, work with and serve and for ourselves, which is essential to our sustainability
Professional - we bring the best of our skills and experience for our various vocations, set high standards in all that we do and do the best we can with our limited voluntary resources
International - we support projects and causes far beyond our borders and collaborate with fellow Rotarians abroad, to share expertise, extend friendship and combine resources
Our members attend Club meetings each Monday, where we enjoy interesting guest speakers, welcome guests who are visiting from abroad and prospective members interested in joining us. We form friendships and discuss how we can best deliver projects and events in support of our partners and beneficiaries. In addition to our fundraising and hands-on activities, we hold informal fun events, all of which can include family members and friends.
You may be familiar with Rotary, through family, friends, or public/online sources, but no prior knowledge is needed. If you have a good heart, an open mind and a willingness to serve, we would like to meet you!
