Our very own Gerry Tipple was presented with the District Service Award for outstanding service in promoting The Rotary Foundation and its goal of promoting world understanding and peace. Rotary International President Ravi Ravindran presented the award together with some gifts to Gerry at a dinner held in the President's honour in Prague.
"Recognition is nice, but it's like the icing on the cake." commented Gerry, " You can have too much of it and it doesn't compare to the real satisfaction that comes from being able to help others. Once you have discovered that, you want to do more and more. In the last 7 years we have raised 2.25 million crowns for local charities from Dragon Boats and sent more than 300,000 crowns to India to support primary school education. That has helped probably thousands of children and families and that's what matters."
